| New Job Training Program "Project Sales" Begins! |
|
Victims of domestic violence often face a number of barriers that can prevent them from attaining safety. Though not everyone experiences the same barriers, one common reason that it can be difficult to leave an abusive environment can be economic uncertainty. Because it is important to all of us at Project Safe to help break through these barriers, Project Safe has developed a 12 week retail-centered job training program for victims and survivors of domestic violence called Project Sales. Through a combination of classroom training, real-world work experience, and one-on-one mentoring, the Project Sales program will provide the skills and experiences needed for participants to successfully support themselves and their families independently from abusive partners. The pilot session of Project Sales will begin in late August.
If you are interested in taking a stand against domestic violence by volunteering as a personal Project Sales Mentor, or by providing childcare during classroom sessions to help participants successfully complete the program, please contact Marla Taylor, the Project Safe Volunteer Coordinator, at projectvolunteer@yahoo.com or 706.549.0922. You can also read more about these volunteer opportunities by clicking HERE. Individuals or organizations who are interested in providing meals for Project Sales participants during the program can learn more by contacting Katy Hendricks, the Project Safe Shelter Operations Assistant, at khendricks@project-safe.org or 706.549.0922. We are proud to be part of such a generous and supportive community and look forward to continuing to work together to help victims of domestic violence escape the pain and humiliation of abuse in the home. |

Just like everyone in our community, all Project Sales participants will be busy balancing responsibilities of home and family life, the needs of their children, and meeting financial obligations while completing the Project Sales program.
