Shelter Advocate – Nights & Weekends

Project Safe is currently hiring part-time Night & Weekend Advocate. Night and Weekend Advocates work between 1-4 shifts per week answering the emergency hotline and providing onsite emotional support to survivors of domestic violence living in an emergency shelter during overnight and/or weekend hours. A minimum of 20hrs a week commitment is needed for the position.

Project Safe is looking for an intern interested in working directly with clients and gaining experience in client advocacy and case management. This internship is ideal for students or graduates looking for hands-on experience in the social work, child and family development, or criminal justice field.

Project Safe is looking for an intern interested in working directly with clients and gaining experience in client advocacy and case management. This internship is ideal for students or graduates looking for hands-on experience in the social work, child and family development, or criminal justice field, especially in rural outreach settings. Must be willing and able to travel throughout Madison, Oglethorpe, and Oconee counties.

Breaking Silence – Closed for Spring 2026, Open for Summer 2026

Project Safe is seeking an intern interested in presenting vital information on the dynamics of dating violence to teens and young adults. This internship is ideal for health promotions, child & family development, education, women’s studies, psychology, sociology, or public health students.

Breaking Silence Social Media – NEW! Closed for Spring 2026, Open for Summer 2026

Project Safe’s Breaking Silence team is seeking an intern interested in working with the Youth Educator & Advocate and Textline Managers to create social media campaigns included, but not limited to: content creation for the Breaking Silence accounts, editing podcasts, and uploading blogs to the Breaking Silence website. This internship is open to anyone interested in communications, marketing, or PR majors who are knowledgeable around social media trends and are willing to work within the Breaking Silence team to offer new ideas around working with you.

Fatality Review – Closed for Spring 2026, Open for Summer 2026

Project Safe is seeking an intern interested in the issue of domestic violence from a community-wide perspective in Athens. This intern will work closely with Project Safe’s Fatality Review Coordinator to examine closed domestic violence fatality cases and implement recommendations for change to prevent future fatalities. This internship can be done in conjunction with the Project Safe Direct Services Internship.

Administrative – Closed for Spring 2026, Open for Summer 2026

Project Safe is seeking an administrative intern who is looking to work with an experienced Executive Director on anything from energetic fundraising to public relations to complex and intricate grant proposals.

Thrift Store – Closed for Spring 2026, Open for Summer 2026

Project Safe is currently recruiting for a Thrift Store Intern. Preference is given to applicants who can commit to at least 15 hours a week and those who can commit to more than one semester. This intern will work closely with the store manager, staff, and volunteers in improving the productivity and profit of the store and would be ideal for students studying business or marketing/advertisement.

Digital Media – Closed for Spring 2026, Open for Summer 2026

Project Safe seeks a Digital Marketing Intern to work with the Community Involvement and Volunteer Coordinator on anything from designing social media campaigns to crafting public relations content. This is an excellent opportunity for a marketing or communications major who has knowledge of social media trends, can work independently, and has strong communication skills.
